From Overwhelm to Alignment: Insights for the Journey

09/30/2025

When I look back at my own path, one truth keeps surfacing: alignment isn't a bumper sticker or a shiny end point. It's a rhythm—a way of living that makes space for the bumps, pauses, and tears along the way.

For years, I thought being overwhelmed meant I was weak. I powered through, over-pleased, and kept everyone else's needs ahead of my own. What I wish someone had whispered into my ear then is this: you are a "people" too. Your wellbeing matters as much as anyone else's.

What I've Learned About Overwhelm

Overwhelm shrinks when we break it into steps: Breathe. You opened your eyes today—that's already something done. Then ask: What's urgent? What are my priorities? Do I need help? Do I need quiet?

Airport tears, stomach knots, sleepless nights—these aren't failures. They're signals of love, belonging, and a mind that needs gentleness, not pressure.

Alignment doesn't mean "just be positive." That phrase denies reality. Alignment means honouring all of it—the grief, the anger, the blank stares at the wall—while holding onto your values like anchors.

How I Work With Clients

This philosophy shapes the way I combine Reiki and coaching. I start by getting to know each client through a short questionnaire, then we begin with a Reiki session. The energy work gives me a sense of where their body and spirit are calling for attention. From there, we talk. Coaching opens the door to explore what surfaced—emotional blockages, unhelpful habits, or the simple need to reshape daily routines.

Sometimes clients return for another Reiki session, sometimes they prefer coaching, often we move fluidly between the two. Reiki softens the ground, coaching makes it usable.

One client once told me that during a distance Reiki session they felt warmth moving through different parts of their body, as if their system had woken up and was listening. They described vivid visions, a wave of tranquility, and clarity that lasted beyond the session. For me, that's what this work is: creating a bridge back to themselves.

A Practice to Try Today

Here's something simple you can do right now. Wash your hands thoroughly, and if you have essential oils, use a drop—lemon for energy, lavender for rest. Rub your palms together until they're warm. Then place your hands on your forehead and throat (to ease headaches and open communication), on your heart and stomach (to balance love and instinct), and on your cheeks—as if your mother were holding your face when you were a child. Stay with it for a moment. Notice how your body feels when you give it this kind of attention.

If You'd Like to Go Deeper

When Reiki is combined with coaching, the work expands. Reiki helps the body release; coaching makes sense of what's released. It allows you to talk through the feelings that surface, discover hidden patterns, and reshape your daily structures in ways that stick. If you're curious about exploring this combination, you're welcome to reach out to me for a session.

Both Together

You can start small today with the hand practice above. Let yourself feel supported by your own touch. And if you'd like to go further—if you want to pair that quiet release with guidance and structure—I'd be glad to walk alongside you through Reiki and coaching together.
